First of all, don't forget to stop by L'Aussie's site today. I'm guest blogging. There's a picture of me (a real picture of me) that I've put up.
Now the announcement!
I love blogfests. I do.
HOWEVER, I can't always participate because they are, in one word: time-consuming. Okay, well that's two words but I added a hyphen: time-consuming!
You have to sign up and read the rules.
You have to prepare the post.
And here's the most time-consuming part - on the day of the festival, you have to visit each and every blog and comment on their entry. Well, you do if you want to increase your follower count. As a writer, I just don't have the time.
What if you're a mystery genre reader, do you really want to follow a blog that posts only romance novels reviews?Well, I want to do a blogfest. But I also want it to be easy and productive. So, it's blogfest matchmaker game! Kinda like Talli's Hating Game
What if you're a fantasy writer seeking other fantasy writer blogs?
It's in the works, people - February 2011. AND IT WILL BE EASY-ISH!
Details coming soon to a blog near you.

Enjoyed your post with Denise and loved the photo. Looking forward to learning more about your blogfest, sounds interesting.

Thoughts in Progress
Curious about the Blogfest.
ReplyDeleteOn my way to see the "real you."
Those stairs are great. Are they yours?
Intriguing. :)
ReplyDeleteSaw your pic yesterday :)
ReplyDeleteI don't visit all my followers, just the ones in my official blogroll and those who leave comments at my site, and the new ones whom I support. There definitely isn't enough time to visit just about everybody, but the loved ones yes :)
I love blogfests, but like you, I cannot always participate because I'm working. You should have a theme-oriented blogfest. Announce that it will be for mystery writers and editors only, or something like that. I used to visit more bloggers but my life is upside down right now so I only visit those who comment on my blog. I wish I had more time :(
ReplyDeleteOooh, I like it! But I also like Blogs outside of my genre. As a Fantasy writer, I need to know a bit of romance (very foreign to me), mystery, and ANY good writing tips to learn and grow. And, boy howdy, I've got a lot to learn!
ReplyDeletegreat idea. I look forward to the details.
ReplyDeleteOooh! What a great idea! Off to check out your guest post now. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL. Sounds good! :o)
ReplyDeleteCool. I'm all over easy-ish!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting my blog. I'm still learning and I appreciate the support. The blogfest sounds interesting. I've never done one before. I also like all the book challenges you have shared - very cool blog!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like it will be interesting- I will post all the details on blogfest page as soon as you post them okay? Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteooh! that blogfest sounds great!!! i love the quicker concept blogfests!! (so you can get around to everyone!) sometimes, i take a few days and only go through like ten entries at a time, you know. now to go see what you actually look like!!! :)
ReplyDeleteJust read your guest post at L'Aussie Writing. It's so weird when you finally get to see what someone looks like! Ha ha! I like the pic though :-) And looking forward to your blogfest.
ReplyDeleteGood I'm all for easy-ish :)
ReplyDeleteJules @ Trying To Get Over The Rainbow
This looks like it could be fun! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely interested. When will you tell us more?
ReplyDeleteThe fact that at long last I can see a picture of you! That is big news! And I really enjoyed the interview, too!
ReplyDeleteLove that photo and enjoyed the interview. Great stuff! Look forward to the blogfest, sounds super.
ReplyDeleteif its easy I'm in - by the way no fair, everytime i hear big announcement from you i want to hear about your pub deal or award or being on the bestsellers list and i know it will happen in time
ReplyDeleteI'm all for an easy-ish blogfest! It sounds like it'll be great.
ReplyDeleteHehe - thank you for the linkage! :)

I was just thinking that someone needed to do a just follow if you want blogfest in February, to brighten up the winter doldrums. So yeah! I'm there with you on this one! I feel the same as you do about blogfests in general. Keep 'em simple!
ReplyDeleteI think this sounds like a great idea. I'm looking forward to taking part in your Blogfest.
ReplyDeleteYay, an easy blogfest! My favourite kind!
ReplyDeleteNow that soounds cool!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I do the easy blogfests, like favorite music and movies. Doesn't take as long to read.
blogfests are definitely time-consuming but they are often rewarding. As with anything you only get back what you put in. (more or less) ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVED your interview with L'Aussie :)
Clarissa Draper!!!! Look at you - you're gorgeous!! I loved your guest blog post over at L'aussie!! It was a truly inspiring read, thank you!! Take care
ReplyDeletex
Wow! loved the wonderful photo of you, but I had imagined a "Clarissa" as someone with red-brown long hair cascading to below her shoulders, cheerleader smile, etc. Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteYour new blogfest idea sounds intriguing, and I'll be curious to see what you come up with!
I'm right there with you. You blogfest sounds great.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to put a face to the name and you're nothing like I imagined. You're a lot younger than I imagined. Anyway, going back over to read the blog.
ReplyDeleteBTW - I had no idea that participants had to actually read all the entries. That's a whole lotta reading. I found the one yesterday very, very interesting and read some of the posts on how people structure their stories. Really a case of different strokes for different folks. If your blogfest is gonna be kinda easy, I might get my feet wet. Somehow, I've never done one before.
Loved your guest post. And your picture! Yay, a face now to put with the name!
ReplyDeleteI agree with all your advice, especially number 2. ;)
Your post was really good. I love blogfests and this one should be interesting. I've to get Talli's book too..
ReplyDeleteI adore blogfests but if 80 people sign up and you have to read ..stories of 500+ words each, there's no time to do anything else. But writing for blogfests has broadened me as a writer as I drew on creativity I never dreamed possible to meet the criteria.
ReplyDeleteAlex J Cavanaugh has good blogfest ideas with his lists. But not always easy to think of things to put in your list!
I must say, Ms Clarissa, you're a hit over at L'Aussie, and folks are loving your photo. Now you've started something. They'll want more of you and now you're giving us your take on a blogfest. What a mystery. I can't wait.
Reading those who've been over to read your post. Must say I'm disappointed they didn't leave a comment there!
WoW!! visited the site and saw your picture!! beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone! When you do a blogfest you don't have to visit every blog but a lot of people do blogfests because they want more followers and to do that you have to go to their blog.
ReplyDeleteCD
True, Clarissa,
ReplyDeleteBut they are so fun! Now many of the blogfests are super easy. One line or two. So preparing is quick, and its so easy to hop around.
Also, I've been in many blogfests and only THE most popular sites get 75 or more participants. Most of the ones I've been in are between 25-50 a more manageable amount. And they're usually over a few days.
I can't wait to see what you have planned.
Michael
Hi Clarissa .. loved the photo and your background - Mr Firth seems to have stirred many a writing career and hearts too!
ReplyDeleteBlogfests get me worried - lots of extra time required .. but yours sounds interesting .. we'll see .. cheers Hilary
Hi Clarissa
ReplyDeleteI will look out for your blogfest :D
I'm running one this weekend ... if you are not too busy!!!! lol
